LADY THISTLE'S JOURNEY JOURNAL
Lady Thistle is a Thoroughbred horse. Thoroughbred horses are bred for speed and grace and often are used in races, dresssage riding, jumping and eventing (a competition of riding through many types of terrain). But they can be used for other jobs too!
When a baby horse was born on the farm of D.H. Anderson's stable, her family witnessed the bonding between mom and child that was so very powerful. The baby horse was named Lady Thistle. D.H. Anderson was inspired to share this experience and educational information about horses and farm life with youth who may or may not have had the opportunity to witness these experiences and learn from them. We are pleased to share Lady Thistle with young readers via a series of children's books, accessories, coloring books, and a special plush to make imaginations run wild again.
Working with horses for the last 30 years is more than just a hobby; it’s a way of life. Donna grew up just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, near Waterdam Farm, the Lady Thistle book series setting.
Donna loves and cares for five horses on her property, inspiring her to document their chronicles as a picture book series with the hope of sharing a peek into the equine world through real-life stories.
Before jumping into equestrian writing, Donna earned her BA from the University of Pittsburgh and has worked as an Organizational Development Leader for a 300-bed hospital. Her life experiences have led her toward a love of literature and writing and a belief in the importance of quality, fun, and educational children’s stories.
Her goal with the Lady Thistle book series is to encourage children toward a lifelong love of horses and literature.
